Why?

NBA 2K21's MyTeam mode employs several dark patterns, ensuring players are experiencing as much FOMO, the feeling of missing out, as possible.

This app is designed with the intention of mitigating FOMO, by reminding players that what they have is good enough.

How?

This app evaluates every player-accessible card in MyTeam and assigns them a tier, based on their class.

Tiers

Think of the American school grading system, however, SS represents an A. There is no D or F.

Label Meaning
SS Best-in-class
S Competitive
A Viable
B Some Handicaps
C Best for casual play

The reason being is that D and F are associated with bad and unusuable. Every card is usable, provided a specific function or role.

Any card labled as C-tier in the app suggests they're best suited for offline or casual gameplay. Other tiers indicate a card's viability in a competitive setting.

Classes

For simplicity, players are classified as one of the following:

In NBA 2K21, there is not much variation between positions, as most playbooks and freelances will typically feature one dominant ball-handler. Everyone else's responsibility is to provide spacing, defense, and rebounding.

Criteria

This application evaluates every card in each class based on specific attributes and badges.
